Just finished our second day on the Oh Yeah Sumer Zine workshop – what a great day! Local musician Rebekah Wilson came in to pose for your budding photographers and we got some great shots! can’t wait to see what else we come up with during the week and on Friday it all comes together when we make a zine so I’ll post it online when it’s all done!!
Anyone looking to start learning more about their cameras? Well come September I’ll have a whole range of new classes starting so I’m as chuffed as this bulldog right now …
Mossley Mill Intro 6 weeks Mondays 7-9pm starting Sept 14th
Conway Education Centre intro 8 weeks mondays 2-4pm starting sept 14th
Mossley Mill intermediate level 6 weeks Mondays 7-9pm starting November 2nd
This is an advance announcement and booking should go live within the next few weeks. All classes can be booked via the organisations websites or by calling them (for Conway please call Conway Education Centre at Conway Mill) Please note for these classes I can’t take booking personally as they are part of the programmes run by each venue and have to be handled by them. Limited availability for all courses as I like to keep numbers so I can pay attention to everyone.
Lisburn and Antrim hopefully to be announced soon and I have plans for a Belfast City Centre one too.
Anywhere you would like to see a course or anything you would like to learn please comment below as I’d love to get more up and running soon?
(thanks Mr Tex for being my happy model!)
I’ve been privileged to work with a wide range of men’s groups with various projects during my time as a tutor and have to say it is such rewarding and enjoyable work. Places like the Men’s Sheds give men a place to go where they can meet up, make friends and look out for each other while learning new skills. Very proud to have had the pleasure of working with the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland to shoot and design this year’s MHW poster to promote their events aimed at improving awareness of men’s health issues both physical and mental. Irish rugby star Tony Ward was our poster personality this year and big thanks to Belfast Coffee Company for letting us shoot in their cafe. More info on the pic below (click the thumbnail to see it bigger) and get a look at the website for more details of events happening near you.
A video made by Shoot Positive founder Carrie Davenport highlighting the important effects the Digital age Project had and how it helped the people taking part to really enhance their lives! We asked participants to tell us about their experience in their own words and got some really heart warming and inspiring feedback!
Until the unfortunate closure of the WEA Shoot Positive founder Carrie Davenport had the honour of working with a wide range of groups on a variety of projects. One of the most rewarding was the Man Matters Project – helping mens groups beat isolation and bring men together to learn, create and meet new people.
We had a great day at the Oh Yeah Centre celebrating International Women’s Day 2015 – as well as taking part in a panel on women in the creative industries, Shoot Positive founder Carrie Davenport made this film to capture the days events, now thats what we call multitasking!
Saturday March 7th I’ll be taking part in a panel discussing the role of women in the music industry at the Oh Yeah Centre 2-3pm. It’s free in so be great if anyone fancies coming along to get involved in the discussion and after that we have a great evening lined up featuring music of Bjork performed by great female local acts as well as a DJ set whoop!]

It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this project – days workshop at St Cecilia’s school in Derry went absolutely great and looking forward to the one in Thornhill next week already! Something a little different for me we were chatting about motivation and managing stress as a woman working in the creative industry which was a real eye opener to plan and deliver! Also covered a little bit of self image – in a world that’s photoshopped to a ridiculous extent it’s more important than ever to chat to teenage girls about the issues they face with modern day beauty standards!
We had a super bright and colourful day in Carrick Town Hall documenting the Chinese New Year celebrations for the year of the sheep!
